S/4 Hana congestion warning
With the ambitious "Deadline 2025", too few resources would have been available for all existing SAP customers. What Mehrtens did not say was the status of the AnyDB and NetWeaver roadmap.
Even the SAP partner present does not know the current AnyDB status. What now? Even if DSAG board member Andreas Oczko warns against using the Business Suite 7 maintenance extension to postpone S/4 projects - ultimately, most existing customers will only start their S/4 planning when they receive all the information on this topic from SAP.
At the beginning of this year, the user association DSAG e.V. published its annual investment report (before the maintenance extension): 40 percent of DSAG members surveyed will not tackle the switch to S/4 until 2021 to 2023. 23 percent of members intend to wait more than three years and 13 percent have not yet made a decision.
This means that over a third of DSAG members are making an S/4 decision at the "very last second". In absolute figures, this means several thousand existing SAP customers who want to manage a "technical" release change to Hana and S/4 in 2024 and 2025 - in time to go live with testing and training measures by 2027.
Anyone in the SAP community who has ever had to organize an SAP version change knows that the years 2025 to 2027 will be a hot phase due to the congestion warning and that many existing customers will probably pay plus two percentage points more maintenance fee in order to "survive" until 2030.
