MES, Manufacturing Execution System, is a collective term for the direct automation of manufacturing. MES is also referred to as production control system and is used for production planning. Related terms are CIM, Industry 4.0 and IIoT.

The SAP user group DSAG has achieved that SAP extends the maintenance for the manufacturing solutions Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (MII) until the end of 2030.
