SAP Signavio as a data hub for business processes: What sounds like a sentence from a marketing brochure has proven its concrete benefits in practice - because we have tested the solution suite extensively. The basic target group is all SAP users who are looking for tools to optimize and automate their processes and who want to work more transparently and efficiently overall when it comes to business process management and S/4 transformation projects. It is therefore not surprising that SAP Signavio is currently one of the most popular tools for many companies.

However, many customers still lack a practical and suitable enablement tool to optimize their processes with SAP Signavio.

Collaboration Hub 

The focus is on the cloud-based Signavio Process Collaboration Hub, which provides a central point of contact for all business processes. It enables employees to share process information and work together. This "single source of truth" bundles all relevant process information in one place, making it easier to navigate and understand processes - and more eyes not only discover more inefficiencies, but also more potential. The hub also offers functionalities for adapting content to specific target groups, whether for employees in Finance, Human Resources or Procurement: everyone receives a customized page with relevant metrics and diagrams. The other familiar SAP Signavio modules Process Insights, Process Intelligence, Process Manager, Journey Modeler, Process Governance and Process Automation work around the Hub. 

Plug and Gain SAP ECC

A BTC use case produced the following scenario: using the plug-and-gain approach as a predefined starting point, the SAP ECC processes (ERP Central Component) were analyzed and concrete information on the current status of the process data and performance was provided and compared with the target status. This quickly made it clear that the S/4 transformation was the right (and only) way forward. Thanks to the automated process visualization, it was also possible to achieve significant savings in terms of the man-days required for process mapping. Process Insights then provided predefined benchmarks and KPI metrics for industry comparison: in this case, one result was that SAP Signavio's performance indicators quickly identified optimization potential depending on the objective. Specifically, this was the case for the exception rate and automation rate: the benchmarking feature revealed a significant drop compared to the industry standard. 

With SAP Signavio, it was not only possible to identify the source, but also to directly identify a solution using individually generated correction recommendations. Signavio fans have to find the right time for the various start scenarios:

First: Before an S/4 transformation: It is advisable to use SAP Signavio before the transformation to S/4. This ensures that existing processes are recorded, inefficient or redundant processes are identified and all processes are prepared for the S/4 requirements. An important side effect: New users can visualize the difference between the current actual processes and the SAP best practice processes.

Second: During continuous process optimization: SAP Signavio can also be used to continuously monitor and improve processes. The benefit here: identifying weak points and increasing overall efficiency - especially if processes are used across different systems or integrated in different cloud solutions.

Third: During the digital transformation: If a company is carrying out a comprehensive digital transformation, SAP Signavio can help to identify and prioritize the necessary changes. Another motivational aid is that the success of the project is constantly demonstrated: Every time a new process goes live, its efficiency (for example, throughput time) can be checked and corrected if necessary. 

Fourth: When introducing new business models: When new business models or products are introduced, SAP Signavio helps to adapt and optimize processes accordingly.

BTP and BDC with SAP Signavio

Every industry has its own individual requirements, whether it's healthcare, manufacturing or energy supply, for example. To solve current challenges, such as an S/4 migration and optimized resource utilization, SAP Signavio can be used to achieve a significant increase in efficiency through specific metrics and analyses - provided the concept fits. We are now a conceptual pioneer and expert in the area of utilities and can help other companies via SAP Signavio, for example in the area of the "MSB market role". There are also advantages when interacting with other products from the SAP ecosystem, such as BTP: this allows process models and data from Signavio to be seamlessly integrated into other SAP applications, which creates multiple benefits - such as a homogeneous database, optimized workflows and a uniform end-to-end process view. We also see great potential in the latest product from Walldorf - the SAP Business Data Cloud: the BDC offers the urgently needed, scalable and secure environment for storing and analyzing business data. In combination with SAP, companies can store and analyze their process data in the BDC to gain even deeper insights and a better basis for decision-making.

First and foremost, the seamless integration into the SAP ecosystem is impressive - an unbeatable advantage for companies that already use SAP products. One concrete example of this is the "successful duo" of SAP Signavio and SAP Cloud Application Lifecycle Management (CALM) - which in this case enables the simple transfer of process models from SAP Signavio Process Manager for solution implementation in Cloud ALM. This in turn supports continuous synchronization of process information and promotes collaboration between business and IT.

In direct comparison, the suite also offers significantly more tools for process modelling and analysis as well as for optimization proposals. 

The SAP product also scores highly in terms of flexibility: in many projects, we have seen how adaptable SAP Signavio is - and this is a decisive criterion for numerous applications, regardless of whether they are multinational corporations, public service providers or SMEs. Last but not least
The use is proven, even if the initial implementation costs may seem high. Many companies report a rapid return on investment thanks to the efficiency gains and cost savings achieved - for example, when delays within the process landscape are quickly identified and eliminated. Understanding Signavio licenses

Advice on licensing is also part of the program for us. SAP Signavio, for example, is already included in the Rise with SAP package price, but in addition to the existing license models (Classic, Enterprise and Enterprise Plus), there are other, more flexible options or tailor-made packages available. Discounts especially for small and medium-sized companies would have the potential to push offering even further. Long-term maintenance contracts or subscription models that provide regular updates and support at a fixed price - similar to cloud ERP models - would also be an option when it comes to maintenance and update costs.
