T-Systems is one of the biggest SAP hosting and cloud providers worldwide supporting roughly seven million SAP users. The biggest Hana database instance that T-Systems hosts has 36 terabytes. The multi-cloud provider also takes care of monitoring, managing and operating Hana-based SAP applications like S/4.

Special team

Operating system for Hana instances is Suse Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications (short: SLES for SAP). However, the partnership between T-Systems and Suse encompasses more than just providing Hana and Linux.

T-Systems is following a near zero downtime approach (or zero outage program), using Suse technologies to achieve its goals. Consequently, T-Systems is able to provide SAP customers with high quality services as well as high availability, meaning almost no downtimes (planned or unplanned).

Suse supports T-Systems in operating SAP landscapes (Hana and Hana-based applications) with a special account team. Suse therefore helps T-Systems achieve its goal of zero unplanned downtimes. In the future, the two companies want to reduce planned maintenance downtimes to a minimum.

T-Systems leverages different Suse technologies and SLES for SAP functionalities, including High Availability Extension, Hana HA Resource Agents, Workload Memory Protection, live patching, saptune and sapconf, and many more. All of these technologies are designed to sustainably optimize Hana operations.

Suse today and tomorrow

T-Systems is a well-known service provider and long-term SAP partner, just like Suse. The two companies are pursuing joint goals, such as more agility and higher business flexibility.

T-Systems wants to provide customers with a cloud basis that is easily adaptable to specific requirements and closely connected to SAP systems. In this context, Suse technologies—be it SLES for SAP or other functionalities—ensure high availability and minimum downtime.
