Metamorphosis
No sooner is a new iPhone on the market than the next moment analysts and journalists start speculating about the upcoming iPhone generation. The B2B market and SAP's domain are not quite so excited. News, innovation, transformation, and reengineering are demanded by the SAP community here as well, but the cycles are ten years and more.
Since the beginning of SAP development 50 years ago, the ERP group has nevertheless been subject to a constant and ongoing metamorphosis. In recent years, however, the need for consolidation and orientation was high, so that a repair service behavior was in the foreground. The metamorphosis of ERP, the digital transformation, lost momentum in the SAP community. This is worrisome. Many existing SAP customers are about to make the S/4 Hana release switch. But they also want to know what might happen beyond S/4.
The metamorphosis in IT is a Continuos Improvement. SAP is currently denying any perspective. SAP CEO Christian Klein is working diligently on the construction sites that his predecessor left him. The vision of an SAP metaverse, an independent digital transformation and sustainable reengineering are not in evidence at SAP. SAP is responding to the challenges of this world, but SAP is not acting in a visionary manner. SAP is not losing its superior position in the ERP market, but many existing SAP customers are starting to turn to other IT providers. SAP is losing more and more of its metamorphosis competence every day.
