Beyond SAP's horizons

That's a very smart plan! SAP's strength came from the integration idea, from the single point of truth, from a central database where every document can be found. Around these databases gathered application modules, later clients (the database was the server) and today numerous cloud and on-prem apps around Hana. What was smart and usable, SAP integrated into the "black box" R/3. Now Christian Klein has announced that he wants to go and think even further on this comprehensive integration path: In the future, non-SAP products and the acquisitions will also be integrated into SAP's ERP, so that the user will find an end-to-end relationship in every case. This idea is fascinating, and for all the technical challenges - yes, SAP could master this roadmap, with the Hana platform and cloud technology. Existing SAP customers will have to be patient, but it could be worth the wait - at least Christian Klein has finally come up with a viable vision again after SAP's golden age of "Professor Kagermann." Bravo!
