A change of era at SAP as well: Luka Mucic, a veteran, is leaving the ERP world market leader and, similar to ex-CEO Jim Hagemann Snabe and his CFO predecessor Werner Brand, he will not be returning to SAP. Gerd Oswald remains an exception.

SAP is managed excellently by Christian Klein and his colleagues on the Executive Board. However, accents and milestones are not set by the SAP Executive Board. The presentation of Hana and the current ERP version was ten years ago. SAP does not need officialdom, it needs leadership.

Two weeks ago, I wrote a commentary on SAP's acquisition of Berlin-based startup Signavio (https://e3zine.com/sap-and-signavio-not-everything-that-glitters-is-gold/). I called the text "fool's gold" - also known as fool's gold. Commentary-wise, I was suggesting that the SAP purchase decision may not have been the most considered.
