SAP Invests 250 Million Euros in New Site in Berlin
With a new, larger office complex in Berlin, SAP is acknowledging the strategic importance of the capital city for the company. The new office will offer space for up to 1,300 employees on 13 floors. SAP is investing a total of 250 million euros in the new location, which reflects the company's many years of growth in Berlin. A decisive factor in the choice of location was, in particular, the central location on George-Stephenson-Strasse in the heart of Berlin as a center of innovation, where political decisions, economic trends and technological development come together. Above all, however, the opportunity to construct a modern, progressive building with a new office concept at the location, in which interdisciplinary work can be carried out on future topics such as AI, blockchain or business process intelligence, was the deciding factor.
The former office building on Rosenthaler Straße became too small in view of the steady growth, to which the acquisition of the business process intelligence provider Signavio or the marketing automation specialist Emarsys recently contributed. The old office will be demolished at the end of 2023, while SAP will continue to maintain its proximity to the Berlin startup scene through the location of the SAP.iO accelerator near Hackescher Markt. And the new building is also well positioned in terms of sustainability: The office complex has been certified Gold by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), and of the 190 available car parking spaces, 50 are equipped with e-charging columns. The new building also enables the changing needs of employees to be taken into account even more effectively. The modern interior design encourages a return to the office, but also creates optimal conditions for the innovative hybrid working model that SAP introduced during the pandemic under the name "Pledge to Flex.
