AI for travel and expenses

SAP Concur Fusion, which took place from March 17 to 19 in New Orleans, is considered the most important annual event for customers, partners and experts from the SAP Concur environment.

Integration Joule and Microsoft

This year's conference focused on AI-supported solutions for expense reporting, travel expense management and invoicing. In particular, SAP is expanding Joule in the SAP Concur solutions with additional automation functions. A new integration between
Joule and Microsoft 365 Copilot make it possible to integrate travel and expense management tasks directly into common work tools. Employees can create and submit expense reports, upload receipts, book trips and retrieve travel policy information without having to leave their Microsoft applications. This solution is already available.

In addition, two new Joule agents were introduced to simplify compliance and reporting. The Expense Automation Agent automatically creates and populates expense reports so that employees only need to check, adjust and submit them. In addition, the Expense Pre-Submit Audit Agent checks receipts before submission and immediately highlights discrepancies, reducing rejections and speeding up reimbursements. Both agents are currently accessible via the SAP Early Adopter Care program, with general availability planned for later this year. In addition, new AI-based policy creation tools make it easier to manage policies in Complete by SAP Concur and Amex GBT, Concur Travel and Concur Expense. 

The integration of the SAP Sales Cloud with the Booking Agent also helps to improve workflows and the productivity of sales teams. New functions for the Complete solution were also presented together with American Express Global Business Travel. The AI-supported platform combines bookings, services, payments and billing and includes intelligent travel support, which seamlessly transfers to personal travel consultants if required, as well as a special website for travel managers. In addition, Concur Expense can now be integrated globally with Amex GBT Egencia.

Virtual credit cards

Joint customers of SAP Concur and American Express will be able to create and manage virtual American Express credit cards in Concur Expense. This gives companies more control over employee spending while increasing security. The virtual cards can also be used in Concur Travel. The feature is already available for selected corporate and business customers in the US using Concur Expense and will be rolled out to additional US customers in the third quarter of 2026. 

As part of the Visa Commercial Integrated Partner Program, SAP Concur has also partnered with Visa Inc. to integrate Concur Expense with Visa. As a first step, real-time notifications for Visa card payments will be automatically recorded as expenses in Concur Expense. This feature is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2026 as part of the SAP Early Adopter Care program. This means that SAP Concur will support real-time notifications from all major credit card providers.

Extended Cleartrip content

Enhancements have also been introduced to business travel management, including improved booking options, broader global access and intelligent travel support. The new user experience in Concur Travel includes guest bookings, enhanced Cleartrip content in India and additional airline options. In addition, Tripit Pro enhances the „Image to Plan“ feature with Apple Intelligence and additional risk alerts, allowing travelers to better organize their itineraries and identify potential disruptions early. 

With Tripit by SAP Concur, new intelligent functions are designed to help travellers organize their plans more easily while staying informed about potential disruptions in real time. For example, users can use the „Image to Plan“ function in conjunction with Apple Intelligence to convert photos or PDFs - such as tickets, reservations, event flyers or receipts - into structured travel plans. Based on Apple Intelligence's on-device models, Tripit Pro extracts relevant information such as dates, times, locations, booking numbers and costs without the data leaving the device.
