To S/4 in record time with JiVS
In a modern ERP system, master data are not information carriers, but concrete instructions for the system processes. The successful end-to-end control of an ERP system is currently based predominantly on data quality. In the context of S/4 conversion, terms such as golden record and data fabric take on a new and strategic meaning. The process sovereignty lies with the data and thus with the data structures and data concepts, as offered by DMI, Data Migration International, with the JiVS platform and the One Click concept.
When migrating to S/4, many companies discover that migrating and transforming legacy data is more complicated and time-consuming than expected and exceeds planned time and cost schedules. In addition, there is the problem of data quality. Often, incomplete, erroneous and duplicate data sets have accumulated over many years, reducing the benefits of SAP's latest software generation.
One-Click Transformation
Hawle Armaturen, a leading Swiss production and trading company in the water, gas and wastewater sectors, also had to overcome these challenges when introducing S/4 Hana and migrating from the legacy system of a third-party manufacturer. This was achieved with the help of the One Click Transformation approach of Swiss Data Migration International and its platform for information management, JiVS IMP: Hawle was able to complete the data migration and transformation in just three months.
Close to SAP standard
Hawle Armaturen made a conscious decision in favor of a near SAP standard solution when introducing S/4. The change to a new ERP system from another manufacturer also entails structural changes to data storage. For legal reasons, legacy data must be kept unchanged during the legally prescribed retention periods.
Some of the master data from the legacy system was of poor quality. There were duplicates or master data that was only needed once. "This was exactly the situation we found ourselves in at the end of 2021," says Marc Veraguth. "We tried to use scripts to migrate the data from the old system to the new one. This was very time-consuming and that's why we were looking for an alternative solution. That's when we came across Data Migration International and their approach of a one-click transformation."
Hawle Armaturen are committed to standards in every respect and this was also the case with the S/4 conversion based on the JiVS DMI platform. A consistent data transfer took place with a one-click transformation.
The experience and references of the Swiss information management specialist quickly convinced Hawle Armaturen. In December 2021, Hawle signed the contracts with Data Migration International and the data migration started in January 2022 from Kreuzlingen, Switzerland.
DMI did not have much time: It was contractually stipulated that the data had to be migrated, transformed and qualitatively optimized by mid-March 2022. After all, the user acceptance test was scheduled for the end of March. Finally, the new S/4 Hana was to go live on May 2.
The most important feature of the patent-pending One-Click Transformation is the degree of automation. This is made possible by special technologies for transferring legacy data to the JiVS IMP platform in the shortest possible time at the push of a button, countless existing adapters for automatically connecting to legacy and new systems, and the automated transformation and cleansing of data on the platform before it is transferred to SAP S/4. These are precisely the strengths that DMI was able to bring to bear with JiVS IMP at Hawle.
"The cooperation between DMI, our IT and the key users, especially during the two-week test phase in March, worked very well. After only three months, we had completed the project for data migration and transformation to SAP S/4 Hana and were able to go live with S/4 on the scheduled date. Only half an hour after the go-live, we delivered the first order".
The One-Click Transformation opens up a whole new dimension in terms of digital transformation and the move to S/4. Finally, with the novel Information Management Platform, JiVS has created a powerful service for preparing any kind of data-driven transformation project, which ensures massive synergy effects for companies.
