Gartner Forecast for 2024

According to the latest forecast by Gartner, global end-user spending on public cloud services will increase by 20.4% to a total of 678.8 billion dollars in 2024. In 2023, this figure was still 563.6 billion dollars.
"The cloud has basically become indispensable," says Sid Nag, Vice President Analyst at Gartner. "However, this does not mean that the cloud innovation process can be halted or slowed down. The tide is turning for cloud providers because cloud models are no longer driving business outcomes, business outcomes are driving cloud models."
"Companies that want to use generative AI services (GenAI), for example, will turn to the public cloud given the scale of the infrastructure required," says Nag. "However, to deploy GenAI effectively, these organizations will need cloud providers that take into account non-technical aspects such as cost, economics, sovereignty, privacy and sustainability. Hyperscalers that support these requirements will be able to open up entirely new revenue opportunities as GenAI becomes more widespread."
