The need to create SAP system copies for a wide variety of applications
The need to create and use data for training, SAP component and functional testing purposes as quickly and cost-effectively as possible is growing steadily. This applies both to the classic SAP deployment with SAP ERP ECC and AnyDB and to the use of S/4 Hana.
Today, dedicated tools for SAP system copying with a high degree of automation are used instead of scripts, which usually have to be generated manually. Using tools of this kind saves time and money in particular. In addition, SAP system copies are created with consistently high process quality. The tool BlueCopy from Empirius, which is now well established in the SAP community, is a smart solution.
Extended range of functions
Continuously further developed, BlueCopy is now available in the new version 10.3, which has an extended range of functions compared to the previous release (10.2). For example, an optimized e-notification procedure, an advanced locking method for users during system copy creation, user exits with signing and upload via GUI, enhancements to AD/LDAP integration, especially for group assignments, and optimizations for SAP system copies in conjunction with Hana. BlueCopy 10.3 also includes even simpler and more effective configuration options for any reworking of SAP system copies.
In focus: BDLS and QDIFF
According to Empirius, greater attention was paid to the two system copying focal points BDLS and QDIFF in the 10.3 developments. BDLS manages the conversion of logical system names. In general, BDLS consumes certain resources and can time a system copy. With the new version 10.3 performance improvements are connected in regard to BDLS. Especially due to the fact that a matrix report is used, which allows an isolated conversion of the x-largest tables in single BDLS jobs parallel to the main job. At the same time, there is now an extended BDLS monitoring.
QDIFF, on the other hand, addresses the issue of harmonizing transport imports from QA to Prod systems. Differences, inconsistencies or incorrect number assignments sometimes occur during transport import. With 10.3, a uniform transport status can now be automatically checked and generated from an SAP system copy when using BlueCopy. Incidentally, these functions can also be used by SAP development departments and not just SAP Basis departments, which are usually in charge of SAP system copies. QDIFF is in and of itself an activity or task field of a development department.
According to company information, the 10.3 innovations in terms of BDLS and QDIFF contribute in particular to achieving further time and cost savings in automated SAP system copy creation with BlueCopy, as well as to increasing the process quality in system copying. According to Empirius, it is also planned to provide the new version 2.0 for the recently introduced SAP Basis system management package Epos (Empirius Planning and Operations Suite).
