First, Only, Hybrid, On-prem

Cloud first - Cloud only
SAP's years-long message of "cloud first" and "cloud only" has unsettled many existing customers on the road to S/4 Hana.
Far too little has been done in recent years to work out the actual benefits of cloud functionality in the company's own data center (on-prem), with an outsourcer or hoster, with the hyperscalers and also with SAP itself - for a long period of time a "political" debate dominated the discussion: Rise with SAP was supposed to prepare the ground for "cloud only", but these concepts did not pass any test in reality. SAP had to correct course, which was now done in Leipzig by the two board members Christian Klein and Thomas Saueressig.
SAP S/4 Hana Cloud - Private Edition - Customer Data Center
Surprisingly, SAP is well equipped for the real world: There are SAP offerings for public, private and on-prem cloud. The product "SAP S/4 Hana Cloud - Private Edition - Customer Data Center" was jointly developed by Hewlett Packard Enterprise and SAP to also provide a cloud answer for all SAP existing customers who want to stay with S/4 in their own data center or with a hoster or outsourcer.
The current E-3 videostream on the topic of IaaS and cloud with DSAG board member Sebastian Westphal and two representatives from HPE as well as a guest from Datagroup provides detailed information about this.
E-3 Round Table on 19.10. on the topic of "Iaas and Cloud Computing"
The result of last week's cloud discussion is a heterogeneous but open concept that allows plenty of leeway for every possible challenge. This puts the existing SAP customer on safe ground with Infrastructure-as-a-Service, because no path should be blocked in the future. Flexible and dynamic use of cloud functions will thus become possible at all levels of the SAP stack.
