NetApp has been known as a specialist for storage and data management for over 30 years and has now also established itself as a cloud player. NetApp is a cloud and data-centric software company. The classic NetApp added values such as efficiency, availability and security were created as an on-prem solution, but have also been available as a NetApp cloud service on AWS for over ten years.
The global NetApp Annualized Revenue Run Rate (ARR) in the cloud is currently USD 619 million. With its history in data management, NetApp has a very high market share in the traditional on-prem data center and over 40,000 satisfied customers worldwide. This enables NetApp and its partners to meet customers exactly where they are on their specific cloud adoption journey.
We help with the migration to the cloud, the implementation of hybrid scenarios and the optimization of existing workloads. Thanks to the now complete integration of the two acquired companies Spot by NetApp and CloudCheckr, the cloud adoption journey does not end with the migration. Additional offerings for billing, cost optimization and data security in the cloud enable a further entry point for new customers and continuous interaction with customers.
NetApp has been working successfully with partners in Germany for over 25 years. We are also transferring this conviction to the cloud business: Since May 2020, NetApp has had a dedicated team focusing on cloud in the NetApp channel. Together with AWS, we are further developing the channel. Long-standing NetApp system integrators, global system integrators and MSPs are just as important to us in the cloud environment as "born in the cloud" partners.
Our goal is to add value to the offerings of partners such as AWS and the Public Cloud Group with our NetApp cloud services and to develop specific use cases together with the partner that are precisely tailored to their expertise and address the challenges of their customers.
Independent Software Vendor
On the one hand, NetApp is an ISV (Independent Software Vendor) for AWS: NetApp cloud services are available in the AWS Marketplace and can be offered by other NetApp partners. Secondly, we are a technology partner of AWS: The native AWS service "Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP" (FSxN) is based on NetApp technology and is already an integral part of many ERP architectures of existing SAP customers.
The aim of all NetApp cloud services is to supplement existing AWS services and thus achieve a cost reduction in compute and storage resources or an increase in data security in the cloud. In addition to traditional file services, database applications such as SQL Server and Oracle or SAP Hana also benefit from this, as do Kubernetes platforms and AI workloads, including the associated data pipelines. FSxN ensures fast, efficient and secure data transfer between on-prem data sets and the cloud, which simplifies and accelerates our customers' AI initiatives.
By combining the various NetApp compute and data management services with the native FSxN storage service, individual use cases can be mapped. By "Power of Three", we mean the combination of AWS cloud services, NetApp's public cloud services and the expertise of our partner Public Cloud Group. The joint approach results in individual, packaged solutions that include consulting or managed services from the partners.
In the meantime, we have developed our own use cases with the Public Cloud Group and AWS and successfully implemented them for existing SAP customers. One example is the AWS platform Elastic Kubernetes Service, EKS. This is used by customers to host business-critical applications that require high performance and availability, but also need to be operated cost-efficiently. These requirements can be implemented as combined solutions from the respective platform and FSxN by partners.
However, this Power of Three goes beyond technical cooperation. We pool our experience, expertise and sales activities in customer projects. With this expertise, AWS, NetApp and the Public Cloud Group jointly support and advise the customer in their cloud project.
