E-3 Cover Story November 2016

SAP has embarked on the largest project in its more than forty-year history: the version change from a "black box" ERP to an open ERP with the in-memory computing platform Hana. For a Trusted Advisor like Atos, the key now is: enabling S/4 and Hana. Frank Scharpenberg, Head of SAP at Atos Germany, spoke about this with E-3 Editor-in-Chief Peter M. Färbinger.
Interview with Frank Scharpenberg, Head of SAP at Atos Germany, on the topic of SAP Hybris.
Is S/4 Hana already up to the challenges of digital transformation? The following section takes stock of the situation and looks at initial experiences. The focus of the consideration is on the questions: What is the strategic positioning of S/4 Hana in our digital age and what paths to S/4 Hana implementation are companies choosing?
June 2015: Siemens, the largest technology group in Europe, commissions Atos to migrate its SAP environment to Hana, the latest generation of a scalable, cloud-enabled SAP environment.
In the past, when Customer Relationship Management (CRM) was still called Computer Aided Sales (CAS) or Sales Information System (VIS), many projects failed because IT alone was responsible for a project. This distribution of roles has changed.
There is hardly an IT topic where theoretical possibilities and everyday reality are further apart than Industry 4.0, but manufacturing companies are coming under pressure from several sides.

Working on the SAP basis is crucial for successful S/4 conversion.

This gives the Competence Center strategic importance for existing SAP customers. Regardless of the S/4 Hana operating model, topics such as Automation, Monitoring, Security, Application Lifecycle Management and Data Management the basis for S/4 operations.

For the second time, E3 magazine is organizing a summit for the SAP community in Salzburg to provide comprehensive information on all aspects of S/4 Hana groundwork.
