Ariba Snap implementation—When the Chemistry is Right

This was triggered by the integration of the acquired Textile Effects division of Huntsman, which required not only organizational changes but also the consolidation of the IT landscape. As part of the transformation program, several of the Group's ERP systems and the ERP of the acquired division were merged. A key objective was to transfer the previously used procurement solutions - including SAP SRM and an existing Ariba instance - into a uniform Ariba Suite.
The implementation partner apsolut supported the technical migration and integration of the purchasing processes. This also included the transfer of order attachments from the Textile Effects division's previous Ariba system via a specially developed interface.
One particular challenge was coordinating the timing of the Ariba roll-out in conjunction with the overarching ERP migration project. Due to multiple delays in the ERP go-live, the staggered roll-out in two phases had to be discarded. Instead, the decision was made in favor of a global "big bang", in which the new solution was introduced simultaneously in six regions.
For Archroma project manager Felipe Antunes Miranda, this big-bang approach was a challenge: "The basic workflow doesn't change if I go live in six regions instead of two at the same time. Of course, we also had to carry out the user acceptance tests in all six regions at the same time, which was a big challenge. Here we were really glad to have an experienced partner like apsolut at our side. They not only helped us with the tests, but also advised us on how we could organize the transfer of knowledge to the end users and our management. This enabled us to establish a sustainably stable process."
