AnyDB 2030, NetWevaer and SoH

The core of SAP Business Suite 7 is ERP/ECC 6.0 and this core requires NetWeaver and runs on AnyDB - IBM DB2, Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. SAP Executive Board member Michael Kleinemeier emphasized:
"With extended maintenance for SAP Business Suite 7 and long-term support for S/4 Hana, we are underpinning this and offering our customers freedom of choice and flexibility as they move into the future."
An inquiry with SAP has now partially cleared up the AnyDB mess, although there are conflicting reports from those involved. An SAP spokesperson told E-3 Magazine:
"Regarding the contractual relationships with our database vendors, I can assure you that they have not been terminated and SAP has ongoing contracts with all three vendors.
As is customary in the industry, such contracts have a fixed term that varies from provider to provider and ends at different times. As in all the years before, SAP will again talk to the providers in good time.
Alternatively, of course, customers are free to migrate databases to Hana today or opt for a direct license from the vendor."
Naturally, for many years there has been the option (Business) Suite on Hana, SoH, which has also been used by numerous existing customers. Now it will have to be clarify to what extent SAP NetWeaver - Java and Abap stack - will be available after 2025. will be available. SAP Service Note 1648480 explicitly refers to the end of the of NetWeaver 7.2 (Abap stack) with 2025, see also https://e3zine.com/end-road-sap-2025-deadline/ and https://e3mag.com/das-ende-von-soh/.
Besides the risk factor NetWeaver 7.2, however, there is also the open future of AnyDB. SAP claims to be in contact with the database manufacturers and apparently to have valid contracts beyond 2025.
An IBM insider assured E-3 Magazine that the DB2 contracts for ERP/ECC 6.0 have been terminated. An inquiry to the German SAP user group, DSAG e.V., has not yet yielded an answer.
AnyDB will be necessary to provide SAP's existing customers with their existing their existing ERP systems by 2030. To what extent Oracle, IBM and Microsoft were involved in SAP's plans could not be said. would not say.
SAP aims to provide full maintenance visibility for Business Suite 7 and is extending mainstream maintenance for core Business Suite 7 applications for two more years.
During this phase-out period, SAP will continue to provide the comprehensive mainstream maintenance services that customers require. There will be no changes to the contract, nor will there be any additional fees.
After this phase, SAP will offer existing customers the option to choose how they want to continue maintenance for core Business Suite 7 applications from 2028.
Customers who require support for their applications during longer can take advantage of Extended Maintenance. This is associated with a surcharge of two percentage points on top of the existing existing maintenance base for core Business Suite 7 applications and applies to all support all support offerings. Extended Maintenance is available for three additional years from 2028 to 2030.
Customers who do not opt for Extended Maintenance until the end of 2027, but wish to continue with Business Suite 7, will automatically be switched to Customer Specific Maintenance. This includes the solution of already known problems at unchanged fees.
