Plan - Build - Run

In response to this traditional project management, I quote - as I have in the past - from Bertolt Brecht's Threepenny Opera, second stanza from the Ballad of the Inadequacy of Human Planning: "Yes, just make a plan! Just be a big light! And then make a second plan, they both won't work. For man is not bad enough for this life. But his higher aspiration is a beautiful trait."
We counter the inevitable failure in digital transformation with an entire cover story on agility, DevOps, governance, risk management and compliance together with SAP partner Solutive. E-3 April is about release, change and transport management and, of course, SolMan will have his say.
Why? Because Green, Brown and Bluefield are not the final answer. If you look beyond SAP, you will see that other IT tools are needed than the Walldorf makeshift suitcase. The S/4 conversion figures also presented by DSAG e.V. paint a sad picture. Together with Solutive, we want to show in the E-3 Cover Story April 2021 how an SAP existing customer can solve the brake block of the Hana-S/4 transformation.
In any case, it will be exciting for the SAP community this year, because work is already underway on the "Rise with SAP" counter-models. The first insight from the community is that the "One Face to the Customer" proclaimed by SAP CEO Christian Klein cannot and will not happen. Without the SAP partner community, hardly anything will happen with existing customers, and the hyperscalers will not let go of the reins.
Together, the release change can succeed - from a business, organizational, technical, and licensing perspective. To do so, however, SAP must learn to share on an equal footing - a challenge for all involved.
