However, the vast majority of existing SAP customers in the D-A-CH region also have an R/2 and R/3 past and there are still active R/1 pioneers. These users have done a great job in the past and have managed numerous functional and technical release upgrades.
An ERP release upgrade is like the work of the legendary Sisyphus from ancient Greece: No sooner has he rolled the big stone to the summit than it slithers back down into the valley - and the toil begins anew. No sooner has the existing SAP customer completed a release upgrade than he is allowed to purchase new SAP licenses and the customizing process starts all over again.
The French writer and philosopher Albert Camus once wrote: We must think of Sisyphus as a happy man, but that's a whole different story. The community is working away at SAP, and many users appreciate this "digital transformation.
