100 billion euros for broadband?

At a conference organized by the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), State Secretary Matthias Machnig from the Federal Ministry of Economics called for an investment boost of 10 billion euros per year.
Such a boost in private investment in broadband network expansion is a crucial prerequisite for the successful digitalization of the economy, said Machnig. At the Potsdam conference at HPI, Machnig and the Minister President of Brandenburg, Dietmar Woidke, demanded that small and medium-sized companies in particular be given a helping hand on the path to the Internet of Things and Services.
SAP Chief Development Officer Bernd Leukert explained at the HPI conference that he expects jobs to be relocated rather than lost. However, in the future, everyone will have to have a minimum level of digital expertise, as there will hardly be any purely manual work processes.
