Use Your Own Data Securely

In an increasingly data-driven world, the intelligent use of information is central to digital transformation. The SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), Integration Suite and Edge Integration Cell (EIC) form the backbone for secure, scalable and AI-supported IT landscapes. The EIC is a key component for companies with a hybrid SAP strategy: it enables integration services and APIs to be executed locally - in the data center or in the private cloud. This allows companies to retain full control over sensitive data and interfaces. The SAP Integration Suite and EIC are considered the strategic successors to the SAP PI/PO middleware solutions, whose maintenance ends in 2027. Technologically, the EIC is based on cloud-native principles, uses Kubernetes and open source frameworks and allows containerization and edge processing. This improves response times and enables real-time analyses.
In-house AI
Suse has provided the first on-premises reference architecture for the EIC with SAP. The Suse Rancher for SAP Applications platform addresses central requirements for security, automation and high availability in container operation. Data security and compliance are essential. Suse relies on BSI-certified operating systems and FIPS-validated supply chain security for maximum security. For globally active companies in particular, it is crucial that critical data is processed locally, traceably and in compliance with regulations. At the same time, the integration platform must not be a weak point. System failures jeopardize business processes, which is why business continuity is a top priority. A Private SAP Event Mesh on Suse Rancher for SAP Applications supports a modern, event-driven architecture and enables flexible, scalable and secure data processing in real time - even under the highest security and compliance requirements.
By using Suse AI, also based on the Suse Rancher platform, AI models can be hosted, trained and optimized locally. Artificial intelligence is developed and used on the basis of the company's own data - independently of external AI services or global data pools. This prevents sensitive behavioral patterns or historical data from being transferred to public AI models, and companies retain full control over their information. This allows companies to create the basis for a modern, future-proof SAP landscape. They benefit not only from intelligent analysis and automated provisioning, but also from an architecture that masters the balancing act between cloud innovation and local control.
The SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) provides the technological basis for this, for example through ready-made services for machine learning, process automation and analysis. However, for AI-supported applications to be used successfully in SAP landscapes in the long term, more than just APIs are needed.
With the SAP-certified operating system Suse Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications, Suse provides the technical basis for many SAP systems - including those that are closely interlinked with BTP. With the Suse AI container management platform, SAP users can integrate AI applications with Milvus and Ollama and Large Language Models (LLMs) directly into their SAP landscape - either as independent container services or in close connection with the AI functions of BTP. The combination enables, among other things, the analysis of large amounts of data, the automation of complex business processes or the use of generative AI models for decision support. Suse thus creates a bridge between SAP systems and modern AI technologies - on a platform that guarantees high availability, security and scalability.
