Thirty-six percent of government respondents to Gartner's 2021 CIO Survey said they plan to increase their investment in AI and machine learning in 2021. However, government employees remain concerned about the impact of technology.
Of all AI technologies, chatbots or conversational agents have been introduced the most in government agencies: 26 percent of respondents said they had already deployed them. Another 59 percent expect to use them within the next three years.
Another Gartner survey found that AI technologies are still viewed with a degree of uncertainty, especially by government employees who have not yet worked with AI-enabled solutions.
More than half (53 percent) of government employees who have already worked with AI technologies believe they provide insights that help get the job done better. By contrast, only 34 percent of employees who have not yet used AI believe this.
