And as summer keeps coming, so does the topic of "breathing" systems in the SAP community.

The software audit is regarded as the spectre of IT: a measurement of the SAP license inventory followed by contract negotiations without reliable information about which licenses are available and how they are actually used.

The topic of indirect use in the context of SAP licensing is not a new one. What is new is merely how SAP SE defines it and that the company designates software licensing products that include licensing on the one hand, but exclude parts of it where applicable.

A real challenge for every license manager: Since SAP discovered indirect usage, third-party licenses and engine measurement as lucrative sources of revenue, it is no longer sufficient to classify only one's own users correctly.

SAP's existing customers are familiar with the GTC and PKL (price and conditions list). But it is also said that nothing is eaten as hot as it is cooked.
