Strategy Royale: Call, Raise or Fold?

Since 2003, the German-speaking SAP User Group e. V. (DSAG) has been presenting the most important technological developments and trends relating to SAP at its two-day spring event. For the more than 2000 participants, the motto is: Hands on! The program includes practical presentations, discussion rounds, TED talks and expert sessions. At the same time, the accompanying SAP partner exhibition is a popular forum for in-depth dialog with SAP experts, networking and forging new collaborations.
This year's event is being held under the poker motto "Strategy Royale: Call, Raise or Fold?". Why is that? Poker has long been considered a game of chance - but even if the distribution of cards is random, the game has a strong strategic and psychological component: professionals know how to give up bad hands early, minimize losses and maximize winnings by knowing the probabilities and observing well.
A good strategy and well-considered decisions also form the basis for investments in IT solutions and SAP software, and the selection and implementation of appropriate technologies should not become a game of chance: SAP is just as much in demand here as the extensive partner network, the infrastructure providers and the application companies themselves: Instead of short-term isolated approaches in the form of immature or functionally limited solutions or non-integrated services and product offerings, what is needed is a long-term, strategic and secure orientation in the interests of the users. After all, the probability of success for all parties involved is only higher if a stable strategy and corresponding experts are in place and existing concepts and product strategies remain constant.
Call
In poker, a call is when you call a bet without raising the stakes yourself. Solutions are still needed for companies that want to continue using their SAP systems without investing in a clear business benefit.
Raise
Well-thought-out, sustainable and strategic decisions, especially in connection with the change brought about by RISE with SAP and the implementation of new (cloud) technologies, motivate many companies to develop new strategies and to "go along" with the SAP strategy and invest consistently.
Fold
Especially with regard to individual solutions and strategies or as a result of the replacement management of existing software products, the option to "fit" after intensive testing is also an alternative.
At the Technology Days, the cards are reshuffled, put on the table and strategies are weighed up together so that everyone can choose the right bet for them - even before the approaching end of maintenance in 2027 - and work towards the "royal flush".
