SAP loses Germany chief

Daniel Holz, who has headed SAP's German business since the beginning of 2017, is moving to Google, where he is to head the Internet group's cloud business in Europe from October 2020. The reason for his departure is unclear, it was only said that he was leaving SAP "at his own request".
The 50-year-old had been employed at Europe's largest software company for around a decade. With a doctorate in economics, he had previously worked at IBM and Oracle, among others. Daniel Holz will be succeeded by Alexander Kläger, who will take over responsibility for the sales organization in the country as Managing Director of SAP Germany.
Alex Kläger has been with SAP in various leadership roles since 2012. Most recently, he was Chief Operating Officer and Head of Cloud for the Central and Eastern Europe (MEE) region. In this role, he was responsible for the structural setup, management of the internal organization, optimization of business-relevant processes and the entire cloud business in MEE.
Prior to that, he was a member of the management team at SAP Germany for six years, where he was responsible for sales in the process, consumer goods and services industries. After studying technical business administration at the University of Applied Sciences in Reutlingen, Kläger began his career at Volkswagen in Mexico.
"Alex Kläger is intimately familiar with the business and our customers in Germany"says Hartmut Thomsen, President of the MEE Region.
"I am convinced that he will successfully continue the work of Daniel Holz."
Cisco top manager moves to SAP

Anuj Kapur, former chief strategy officer at Cisco, has been appointed president of corporate development and strategy at SAP. Kapur is expected to help identify trends early and deliver even greater value to customers.
Kapur is also responsible for the cross-divisional implementation of SAP's growth strategy. He reports to SAP CEO Christian Klein. He will remain based in Silicon Valley.
"Such responsibility requires a creative thinker and a competent leader who has a comprehensive understanding of global and local requirements." Klein said.
"In Anuj, we have found that person. Staying the course in today's volatile environment can be challenging. More than ever, we therefore owe our customers, partners, employees and shareholders a clear strategy that points the way forward.
As with our solutions, a holistic strategy is required that brings together and reflects SAP and the respective goals. It must also bridge the gap between today and tomorrow, set a clear vision and define how to achieve it."
Kapur grew up in India, Kenya and Canada and now lives in San Francisco. He held various roles at Cisco driving strategy and business development before being named the company's chief strategy officer. Kapur holds a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo.
