Climate protection from the cloud
Microsoft has set itself ambitious goals in the fight against climate change. The company aims to be CO2-negative by 2030 and to remove all of the CO2 emissions from the atmosphere that it has caused since it was founded in 1975 by 2050. To achieve this, Microsoft has now announced extensive new measures. The key elements: more CO2-free electricity and a sustainable cloud.
With the Cloud for Sustainability, Microsoft is helping its customers to make CO2 emissions transparent and achieve their sustainability goals. The sustainable cloud solution enables companies to specifically monitor their emissions in areas such as heating or air conditioning systems, for example. CIOs can make the carbon footprint of their company's IT transparent - a crucial area that has so far hardly been taken into account in the sustainability efforts of most companies.
With the Cloud for Sustainability, companies can also offer their customers a sustainability scorecard to track progress in CO2 reduction.
