Shortfacts - February 2020

No monthly SAP news should be disregarded. The Short Facts are dedicated to smaller news items as well as seemingly more or less important statements from the community. This is the place for SAP-specific press releases that otherwise tend to be overlooked.

Coaches for Daimler

As an SAP automotive consultancy, Abat has been an implementation partner of the Daimler SAP project "AmSupply" since 2009. This involves the conversion of legacy logistics systems at car assembly plants to an SAP template.

With Rastatt, Kecskemét, Bremen, Iracemapolís, Sindelfingen, Tuscaloosa and Moscow, seven Mercedes plants have now gone live with the solution. In January 2020, "AmSupply" will go live in the body shop of the Daimler plant in Bremen. For the start-up, Daimler is being supported by Abat with around 30 coaches - students from a wide range of universities and disciplines.

Since the beginning of November, ten coaches have been undergoing training in Bremen's Überseestadt district in order to prepare them optimally for their work at the plant by the end of the year.

The next group joined in mid-November, with further support following at the beginning of December. Working as a start-up coach offers students the opportunity to familiarize themselves intensively with the basics of SAP and "AmSupply" over several weeks.

They can also have their work recognized as an internship during their studies or recommend themselves for a Bachelor's/Master's thesis in the automotive and logistics sectors. In addition, the work is appropriately remunerated.

The start-up coaches will be working in Halls 7 and 70 from the beginning of January to the end of February 2020. The areas of operation include incoming goods, production supply, the warehouse, production and dispatch.

The coaches see themselves as a link between the external logistics service providers, Daimler logistics service provider management and the "AmSupply" project, helping them to find their way around the system and addressing any problems that arise, to which they can then respond individually thanks to intensive training.
