Free hand for order picking
With the support of Cpro Industry, software manufacturer Bitergo has developed an in-house navigation system for manual pick-by-view picking processes using Google Glass data glasses.
The so-called pick-by-view system is the result of a research project of the Central Innovation Program for SMEs (ZIM) of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
The major advantage of the Pick-by-View system is hands-free picking. The picker has the picking instructions in front of them at all times and is guided safely through the warehouse by the system - without any devices or lists in their hands.
The integrated camera can also be used as a barcode scanner. Andreas Dürholt, Managing Director of Bitergo, explains how the Pick-by-View system differs from other solutions:
"The special feature of the Pick-by-View system is indoor navigation. The system can not only localize people, but also ensures that they can find their way through the warehouse independently."
The picking orders are generated via an SAP system, while the pick-by-view system executes the corresponding commands. The partner company Cpro provided the connection to SAP.
"Thanks to the SAP specialist's many years of experience and the great collaboration, this was an easy decision for us"
explained. Dürholt. A link to the SAP WM and EWM modules is currently possible.
