New logistics locations in China
The project to plan two new logistics centers in China for Festo, a manufacturer of control and automation technology, was successfully completed towards the end of last year. The Hub Asia, a goods distribution center in Shanghai mainly for supplying the Asian region, was planned by IO-Consultants as a semi-automated warehouse on two floors to save space in accordance with Chinese requirements. It will be the first AutoStore warehouse to be realized in China. There is also a large visitor platform with a view of the top level of the AutoStore warehouse and the robots. Together with IO-Consultants, Festo has developed a flexible and scalable picking, layout and IT concept for the Hub Asia, which can meet the Chinese requirements for innovation and space optimization by using an AutoStore system as the heart of the picking system. Particularly noteworthy is the AutoStore solution for the rapid processing of small parts orders using robots, which will be used for the first time in China. Parallel to the Asia hub, the concept and detailed planning, including tender preparation, were carried out for the DC North, which will supply end customers in northern China from Suncun (Jinan) in future.
