Shortfacts - April 2013

Cloud computing is growing and polarizing
The latest PAC Cloud Monitor 2013 confirms that more and more German companies are turning to cloud computing. The survey of more than 400 IT decision-makers shows that 37% of companies in Germany actively use IT services from the cloud. A further 29 percent of companies are discussing the topic.
The private cloud remains at the center of cloud activities. In addition to rising user numbers, the PAC analyses also reveal a growing polarization in the assessment of cloud computing: a large number of cloud advocates (35%) are offset by a growing proportion of sceptics (44%).
The proportion of those undecided is decreasing (20%). This trend is particularly evident in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), where the cloud topic is gaining in maturity. The fear of data loss remains a key obstacle to the use of public cloud solutions.
