How smart living is becoming an export hit
The new "Smart Living" study by the technology association VDE shows which products are promising and what needs to be done now to ensure that smart living applications and services "Made in Germany" become an export hit.
The VDE recommends intensifying cross-industry cooperation between companies in the smart living segments and closely interlinking the approach of business and politics in a "Smart Living Business Initiative".
German companies are global leaders when it comes to intelligent components and devices. Applications and services are still lagging behind. This is where US companies such as Google, Apple and Amazon are currently ahead.
"What puts us ahead in international competition is intelligent networking across system boundaries and levels. German industry must succeed in jointly developing new services and business models and establishing them with international appeal.
We should learn from the experiences we made in the mobile communications sector ten years ago and not leave the service sector to others"
