Cloud without a security plan
The smaller the company, the more likely it is to rely on a security
strategy for the use of cloud computing.
While around two thirds of companies with 500 or more employees that use or plan to use cloud services have a cloud security strategy, only around a third of smaller companies do.
For example, 68 percent of companies with 2,000 or more employees have a cross-divisional security strategy or a strategy for individual divisions.
For companies with 500 to 1,999 employees, the proportion is 61%. In contrast, only 35 percent of companies with 100 to 499 employees have such a strategy, and only 28 percent of companies with 20 to 99 employees.
This is the result of a representative survey conducted by Bitkom Research on behalf of management consultants KPMG.
"Cloud computing is a basic technology of digitalization. Used correctly, it can not only make business processes more efficient, but also increase security"
says Axel Pols, Managing Director of Bitkom Research.
