Statement on indirect use
We are pleased that SAP has reconsidered the issue of indirect use by partner applications and has announced new solutions. However, it remains to be seen how these solutions will be structured in detail and what license costs can then be expected in the respective application situations.
Taking into account the fact that ERP systems are the central data hub of a company, it is inevitable in an increasingly networked world that external third-party systems need to access the database of an ERP system.
The commercial and legal question of which license metrics apply here and which license costs arise as a result have a significant influence on the development and supply of the market for third-party applications.
In this respect, we await SAP's design proposals with great interest and hope that the new license metrics for indirect use will be more in line with the interests of our partners and their customers than the previous system.
