SAP combines horsepower and digital power

This year, SAP is the new sponsor of the SAP Cup, an eventing competition over two days with individual and team scoring for the Nations Cup.
"As in previous years, SAP equips all riders with sensors and presents the data live in the CHIO Aachen app as well as regularly on the screens in the stadium and on the grounds, so that spectators don't miss a single moment of their favorites on the course"
explains Henrike Paetz, head of equestrian sponsorship at SAP.
"In addition, there will again be helmet camera videos with this data and exclusive comments from some riders, including Ingrid Klimke. So the fans can experience and follow exciting rides with all the information quasi 'from the saddle'."
For the first time, the prototype of the "CHIO Aachen Fan League" will also enter the race. It allows the visitors to collect valuable points for the fan ranking list when judging the spectators via the CHIO Aachen App or the Spectator Judging App in all dressage competitions during the entire tournament.
The new league concept was developed together with the SAP partner Black Horse One in order to enable an even more intensive involvement of the expert Aachen dressage public.
Another technology showcase from SAP at the CHIO Aachen 2019: The previous, paper-based scoring method in dressage will be converted to the new eDressage system.
Thanks to the technology developed by Black Horse One in cooperation with SAP, the score sheets can now be filled out directly on the iPad.
Judges sign digitally, data is available in real time and stored securely in the SAP Cloud Platform. This allows trends and analyses to be displayed directly, and the results are directly available to the audience and commentators.

Equestrian Simulator
As a special attraction, the new sensor-based equestrian simulator will also be presented at the CHIO Aachen, which enables both experienced riders and those new to the sport to experience a realistic riding experience in the disciplines of dressage, jumping and eventing/cross-country riding.
Together with the manufacturer Racewood, SAP is working to provide the simulator's users with new insights through data analysis and to optimize the training.
An additional innovation in this context is the virtual "Cross-Country Challenge", where visitors can also try to complete part of the Aachen cross-country course of the SAP Cup on the simulator and beat the score of SAP brand ambassador Ingrid Klimke, who will be setting a target at the start of the tournament.
In addition, the entire route can be conveniently explored in all its details for the first time as a virtual 3D tour.
Together with the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team, SAP will also be presenting its joint commitment to e-mobility. At the Mercedes-Benz booth, visitors can take their first exclusive look at the all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow 01 race car and learn all about Formula E racing and the race car's technology, as well as the technology partnership with SAP.
