Change management at the airline Swiss used its own process - which, however, applied to the entire IT department and was not specifically geared towards SAP. The result: a notorious "paper trail" that organized releases and approvals by email.
During the annual external audit, the documentation of these shadow processes required an enormous amount of manual effort - in some cases, they were difficult to recover and were filed in a non-transparent manner in the manual process. This meant that there were always "findings" in the change management audit.

Process templates are used within SAP's business solutions across international company locations - but occasionally represent a breach of compliance. The cause: local branches or departments adapt individual templates without the knowledge of the head office.
The result does not meet corporate requirements and, in extreme cases, does not even comply with legal regulations. This problem primarily affects companies with several business units and cross-border locations, but also occurs in the case of company acquisitions and the resulting system links between several SAP installations.

SolMan is rarely patched to the most secure level during operation: a gap that doesn't have to be there - but the necessary restart always forces a downtime, which is why companies often refrain from updating.

SAP user: Wüstenrot & Württembergische Group
Three days instead of nine months: If you walk, it is difficult to reach a distant destination. This was the case for the Wüstenrot & Württembergische Group with SAP's Solution Manager. In a nine-month pilot phase, SAP's own tool was unable to achieve a proof of value - Solutive's ESM Suite, however, only needed three days.
Six million customers entrust their pension provision to the more than 10,000 employees of the Wüstenrot & Württembergische Group. Security, home ownership, risk protection and asset accumulation are the core topics of the specialist. Future security is therefore a top priority, and this also includes in-house software management.
With SAP, W&W relies on a powerful solution, but with the existing solution in SAP transport management, W&W was unable to plan for the future and support meaningful release management of its SAP applications.
Future-proofing and stability: Important criteria for replacing the old solutions were future-proofing, process integration with JIRA process management, the degree of automation and the requirements in terms of security and stability.
Nine months of SolMan: A nine-month pilot phase of a SolMan 7.2 ChaRM environment failed to meet the criteria, and a reassessment of the situation was urgently needed. During the subsequent evaluation, it became clear that the holistic DevSecOps approach of the fully integrated security solutions in the ESM Suite offers significant added value compared to the Solution Manager. This means that transport security and system stability can be guaranteed automatically for the first time.
Three days for the Proof of Value: The introduction of the DevSecOps solution and the JIRA integration using the ESM standard plug-in were implemented easily and smoothly in the shortest possible time. "The proof of value with Solutive implemented more requirements in three days than the nine-month pilot phase of the Solution Manager", says Rico Schneider, SAP process manager at W&W IT.
The ESM Suite also simplifies the work of internal and external employees through transparency and audit-proof documentation of all compliance-relevant processes - another criterion that should be considered in times of working from home.
