q.beyond sells colocation subsidiary
The acquisition of the q.beyond subsidiary brings the sales process for all colocation activities to a successful conclusion.
q.beyond sells its wholly owned subsidiary IP Exchange for around 44 million euros (enterprise value) to NorthC Group Deutschland, a company of the Dutch data center operator NorthC Group, which is expanding into the German market with the purchase.
q.beyond is thus finally parting with its colocation business in Munich and Nuremberg. IP Exchange was already successfully sold at the end of July 2021. The investment-intensive colocation business had not been in q.beyond's strategic focus for some time. For this reason, various options for this area have been developed and examined since spring 2021.
Management Board member Jürgen Hermann explains the decision that has now been taken: "The sale is the optimal solution for all parties involved."q.beyond can focus entirely on its core cloud, SAP and IoT business, and the IP Exchange team, together with NorthC Group, can ideally leverage its strengths in the colocation market.
Hermann explains: "With a successful sale, we reduce complexity, increase our room for maneuver and sharpen our positioning."
The data centers at the Hamburg site, where q.beyond bundles its managed services business and provides private cloud solutions for its medium-sized customers, remain part of the core business.
