Uwe Werner IT procurement consultancy starts operations in Switzerland

Uwe Werner IT Einkaufsberatung GmbH, which specializes in SAP license management, is expanding its presence in the DACH region and establishing an independent national company in Switzerland, Uwe Werner IT Einkaufsberatung AG. The new consultancy, based in Cham, will support Swiss SAP user companies with license negotiations, maintenance and contract management. The background to the expansion is the growing demand for independent consulting in the course of the transformation from classic on-premises systems to the cloud. „In Switzerland in particular, we are seeing strong momentum from companies that are realigning their SAP strategy and are looking for sound support with license and contract issues,“ explains Uwe Werner, founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the new public limited company. Werner has more than 30 years of experience in software sales, including seven years in Global Sales Management at SAP.

Since 2021, the Walldorf-based company has been advising on strategic negotiations as an intermediary partner between SAP and customers. In Switzerland, 14 companies from various industries have already been supported over the past two years. The company now plans to gradually build up its own local consulting team. The target group is SAP users with an annual turnover of between 200 million and 80 billion euros and a net license volume of at least one million euros.

New standard for open data infrastructures

Fivetran, a provider of automated data movement, and dbt Labs, a pioneer of modern data transformation, are joining forces as part of a share swap. The goal is to jointly set the standard for open, automated and easy-to-manage data infrastructures. The merged company will generate annual recurring revenues (ARR) of around 600 million US dollars. Fivetran CEO George Fraser will take the helm, while Tristan Handy, founder of dbt Labs, will serve as President. Both see the merger as the next step towards a fully integrated database that will enable businesses to run analytics and AI applications at scale - open, interoperable and scalable.

The openness of the new approach is particularly emphasized: dbt Labs Core will remain open source, and the shared platform will be based on open standards such as SQL and Iceberg. This gives companies complete freedom of choice when it comes to cloud, BI or AI tools and avoids vendor lock-in. "AI is changing every industry," says Fraser. "Companies need an open foundation that grows with their ambitions." Handy adds: "Together, we can create the open data infrastructure that the AI era demands." The merger has been approved by both boards and shareholders, but is still subject to regulatory approval. Until then, both companies will continue to operate independently.
