Jiska Classen joins the professorship at the Hasso Plattner Institute

The Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) has appointed Jiska Classen as Professor of Mobile and Wireless Security at the joint Digital Engineering Faculty with the University of Potsdam as of August 1, 2025. The IT security expert previously headed a junior research group at HPI and has been researching the security and data protection of mobile and wireless systems such as iOS, Android and satellite communication for years. Using reverse engineering methods, she uncovered vulnerabilities in billions of end devices, which were closed in collaboration with manufacturers. Her most recent work includes analyses of the Apple Watch and Apple's Private Cloud Compute. The appointment strengthens HPI's expertise in IT security and continues the expansion of the Security and Digital Health research clusters.
