Innovation in the SAP World: Open Source
In the coming years, the SAP landscape will undergo serious changes. SAP's announcement that it will discontinue support for its standard ERP system is generally pushing the switch to SAP Hana and S/4.
In many cases, open source technologies form the basis for the successful migration to these new environments. Here, too, they are the modernization and innovation drivers par excellence.
SAP is now also increasingly going down the open source route. And another trend is spurring open source use: most SAP customers will be operating a hybrid cloud in the next few years.
In the future, they will obtain some of their current applications from SAP as SaaS and the remaining applications will be migrated to S/4 Hana. A wide variety of deployment scenarios are conceivable: from on-premises to public cloud to managed services use, with a combination of different models coming into play above all.
This inevitably increases complexity, and selecting the right toolset for delivering end-to-end services in hybrid environments is critical.
Here, too, there is no way around open source-based platforms and open API, integration and management solutions. Red Hat is represented by several experts.
They show how modern hybrid infrastructures, development and operational concepts based on innovative open source technologies accelerate digital transformation.
