Eliminate information deficit
Companies know that the digitization train has set off. It is only a question of when they want to or have to jump on. Accordingly, IT should also have resolved its tickets for this journey and be ready to support the necessary leap with appropriate technology and resources.
In the context of digitization, new business processes must be implemented ever more quickly. However, classic ERP systems cannot be adapted or updated as quickly as necessary. That is why hybrid IT approaches are increasingly playing a role.
Cloud solutions have the task of integrating new approaches at low cost without having to abandon an existing concept or replace main applications.
Where is the journey heading?
In order for this to be implemented appropriately in the companies, clear statements are needed from SAP as to where the journey is headed with the corresponding solutions. A key question is: Which functionalities will be available, how and where, and what benefits will users derive from their use?
"Here I see a certain information deficit on the part of SAP that needs to be eliminated"
says Ralf Peters, DSAG Board Member for Technology. Ralf Peters has also identified potential for improvement in terms of software quality.
"The goal must be to set up SAP products in terms of quality so that they can be used more quickly."
He added that it was also essential to promote the know-how of employees in the relevant areas and to interest the current generation of young IT professionals in SAP and its solutions.
The best way to achieve this is to turn forethought into a program, and to do so as quickly as possible. According to DSAG, there are good approaches from SAP to provide the appropriate support.
However, there is still a need for greater speed in implementation and corresponding forums in order to be able to deal with the diverse topics. To ensure that the next generation of IT professionals is also enthusiastic about working with SAP products, initiatives from DSAG and SAP such as the University Alliance and programs as part of the SAP Learning Hub are intended to arouse interest among the next generation of IT experts.
The DSAG Technology Days will take place on February 20 and 21, 2018. The organizers expect over 2,000 participants at the International Congress Center Stuttgart.
