Extended Warehouse Management
Phoenix Contact is at the forefront when it comes to the digitalization of industry. Components from the global player have been connecting, distributing and controlling power and data flows for more than 100 years. The solutions automate processes and help to cost-effectively implement different applications in many industries. The company customized SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) for its distribution center in Blomberg in East Westphalia-Lippe.
"Our project team benefited from the template expertise of the Prismat consultants and from the modular solution components that they were able to provide quickly and efficiently thanks to their ready-made best-practice kit," explains Sarah Kraft, Project Manager at Phoenix Contact.
Prismat's best-practice toolkit combines many functional blocks that have already proven themselves in completed projects. With this booster, SAP professionals and users can implement intralogistics projects in a short space of time. Nevertheless, customization is possible at any time close to the standard. The logistics bundle has ready-made functions - including telegram structures, duplicate checks, test and monitoring tools, NOK handling or counter logics for loops and more.
Material Flow System
The Material Flow System makes it possible to connect automated storage and conveyor systems directly at the programmable logic controller (PLC) level. The warehouse tasks are divided into smaller orders and transferred step by step via telegram communication to the relevant PLC. Phoenix Contact even uses its own controllers in conjunction with the Material Flow System in its automated pallet warehouse.
For order picking at Phoenix Contact, Prismat implemented a sophisticated packing station dialog based on SAP Fiori: thanks to the user-friendly access with responsive design, the specialists can now navigate intuitively through the application. Personalized dashboards simplify processes and increase productivity. "As with all measures to digitalize the Phoenix Contact Group, future-oriented action was particularly important to us when introducing SAP EWM as a warehouse management system," emphasizes Sarah Kraft.
As a Special Expertise Partner of SAP, the company has continuously supported the development of warehouse management from WM (Warehouse Management) and EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) to Embedded EWM in SAP S/4. With TM (SAP Transportation Management) and transport logistics as process expertise, the consulting and development company continued to expand its service portfolio.
