The tax authorities in the affected regions have subsequently passed various disaster decrees to relieve the burden on employers and employees: if companies provide aid for their employees affected by the flood disaster, the payments are tax-free up to an amount of 600 euros per person - in individual cases even more. Conversely, employees can waive part of their salary so that the company can use it to support affected colleagues or donate the amounts. The wages treated in this way then do not constitute taxable wages.
