Instead, the results of the study show that this gap is primarily due to different perceptions of budget and operational issues.

For example, 50 percent of the IT managers surveyed worldwide believe that IT budgets are not sufficient to actually deliver customized solutions on a large scale - whereas more than two thirds of business decision-makers do not see any challenges with budget levels.

At the same time, however, both sides recognize that the pipeline for change requests for IT solutions is becoming increasingly full and that these can hardly be fulfilled, or only after months or even years. On the business side, this is about missed strategic goals, unachieved key figures and falling behind the competition.

Unsurprisingly, as a result of this development, unregulated IT projects, so-called shadow IT, have been on the rise for several years in order to meet demand.
