Bitkom statement

Commenting on the upcoming adoption of the digital strategy by the German cabinet, Bitkom President Achim Berg said: "This digital strategy sets very specific priorities for particularly important projects with a leverage effect. It can give Germany's digitization a powerful boost - if everyone gets on board and implementation succeeds. However, this digital strategy will not initiate the necessary digital turnaround. For the first time, we have a digital policy document that does not just list individual measures, but takes a holistic approach to digital policy, focusing on the big picture and not getting lost in the minutiae.

With its new strategy, the German government is taking action in the right places to achieve a great deal for everyone in Germany with simple measures such as electronic identities. Now the digital strategy must be filled with life. Here, we see the Digital Ministry as having a responsibility. It must ensure that the strategy is implemented in full by the departments involved as quickly as possible. To do this, all the ministries, without exception, must pull together."
