
According to a new study by research and consulting firm Gartner, 55 percent of CIOs plan to increase the number of full-time IT positions during 2021. The personnel growth is expected to take place primarily in the areas of automation, cloud and analytics platforms, and support for mobile working.
"The critical role IT played in most companies' response to the pandemic appears to have had a positive impact on IT staffing plans" says Matthew Charlet, research vice president at Gartner. "The initial pessimism about the junior staff situation in 2021 that many CIOs expressed in mid-2020 has disappeared."
