Data literacy lags behind

Companies value data-savvy employees as they believe they make better and faster decisions and are more productive and innovative. 77 percent of managers believe that the ability to innovate is increased when data is used correctly, and over half (53 percent) see potential for increasing turnover. Employees agree with this. In general, the higher the degree of digitalization in companies, the more important data handling skills become. Although managers and employees agree on this, this awareness does not necessarily lead to investment in corresponding further training.

Moreover, these are often limited exclusively to experts. 43% of managers are of the opinion that further training in handling data is only relevant for traditional data functions (analytics, data science). Only 34 percent of them offer corresponding training for the entire workforce.
