Lack of security checks
CyberArk surveyed 900 security managers worldwide for its new study. A key finding is that 80 percent of companies had to register misuse of business applications by their employees in the past year. The risk of insider threats and the theft of access data is therefore still very high. However, 48 percent of the companies surveyed stated that they are only insufficiently able to view user logs and trace user activities if necessary. The problem here is that financial, healthcare, marketing or developer web applications in particular contain confidential data such as financial records, customer or patient data and intellectual property. According to the study, the average end user in 70 percent of companies has access to more than ten critical business applications. The three most important applications that companies want to protect from unauthorized access are IT service management applications such as ServiceNow, cloud consoles for Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform as well as marketing and sales applications such as Salesforce.
