CIOs in the spotlight of digitization

CIOs in Germany and across the EMEA region report that digitalization is increasing the efficiency of key business areas, including customer service, HR, finance, IT and legal.
However, many CIOs are unable to demonstrate these positive effects due to deficits in their company. This is shown in a study by ServiceNow.
"In my personal view, CIOs play a crucial role in the implementation of digitalization strategies - even or even more so here in Germany. They have the opportunity to improve results and efficiency in various business areas, such as HR, finance, IT and legal"
says Detlef Krause, Area Vice President Germany at ServiceNow.
The survey of 516 CIOs shows that around two thirds (66 percent) of respondents have automated at least 50 percent of processes and workflows in their company.
By 2022, 96% of CIOs will have digitized at least half of their company's work processes. However, CIOs face the challenge of fully exploiting the potential impact of digitalization. This is due to weaknesses in the company that undermine the digitalization strategy. The figures also prove this for Germany.
"In order to really make an impact with a digitalization strategy, CIOs need to engage with the people and processes in the company. It is a challenge to integrate IT into all business areas and to link IT and business objectives. If they can do this, CIOs will be able to improve innovation, business results and employee performance"
