E-3 Cover Story September 2015

More and more SAP customers are switching from SAP Classic to Hana on BW, Suite on Hana or S/4 Hana. Realtech has supported and implemented numerous migrations. Consulting Manager Hinrich Mielke from Realtech on the ongoing Hanaization.
New business cases and expanded SAP application options are fueling Hana and S/4 usage. This requires changes in SAP IT infrastructures and operating models. With SLES, Suse OpenStack Cloud and Suse Manager, Suse supports mission-critical Hana and S/4 deployments.
More and more SAP applications are being moved from traditional IT infrastructures to the cloud. In part, this means using OpenStack as the central cloud IaaS platform. NetApp solutions for SAP infrastructures already show future usage possibilities in OpenStack clouds.
As a result of SAP's commitment last year to support OpenStack, an increasing number of SAP's existing customers are turning to the modular open source IaaS cloud platform as part of their cloud initiatives. As in other IT projects, external implementers are being used.
When using Hana and S/4, data center managers have to align their IT infrastructure in such a way that the departments can implement new business cases as quickly as possible. Fujitsu provides a future-proof and compatible platform with Primeflex for SAP Landscapes including Flexframe Orchestrator.
In many respects, the SAP community presents itself in a constant process of transformation. Digital change management is the meta level. In practice, the existing SAP customer observes the transition from a black box R/3 to an open source-based S/4. Terms such as Linux, OpenStack, Apache, Hadoop are omnipresent. With representatives from Suse Linux, Fujitsu, NetApp, Realtech and B1 Systems,...

Working on the SAP basis is crucial for successful S/4 conversion.

This gives the Competence Center strategic importance for existing SAP customers. Regardless of the S/4 Hana operating model, topics such as Automation, Monitoring, Security, Application Lifecycle Management and Data Management the basis for S/4 operations.

For the second time, E3 magazine is organizing a summit for the SAP community in Salzburg to provide comprehensive information on all aspects of S/4 Hana groundwork.
