DataHub Europe: SAP experience in dual leadership
Schwarz Digits and Deutsche Bahn have given the operational go-ahead for a European data and AI platform with the founding of DataHub Europe. The aim is to create a secure, GDPR-compliant data room for business, research and administration, supplemented by a Data & AI Workbench and a marketplace for data products. The first application is AuditGPT, a digital audit assistant that is already in productive use. Helaba is joining as a strategic partner to develop data-based solutions in the financial sector. Eicko Schulz-Hanssen, who began his career at SAP, and Julian Kopmann, an AI expert at Deutsche Bahn, are at the helm. DataHub Europe aims to strengthen Europe's digital sovereignty vis-à-vis global platform providers.

Jiska Classen joins the professorship at the Hasso Plattner Institute
The Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) has appointed Jiska Classen as Professor of Mobile and Wireless Security at the joint Digital Engineering Faculty with the University of Potsdam as of August 1, 2025. The IT security expert previously headed a junior research group at HPI and has been researching the security and data protection of mobile and wireless systems such as iOS, Android and satellite communication for years. Using reverse engineering methods, she uncovered vulnerabilities in billions of end devices, which were closed in collaboration with manufacturers. Her most recent work includes analyses of the Apple Watch and Apple's Private Cloud Compute. The appointment strengthens HPI's expertise in IT security and continues the expansion of the Security and Digital Health research clusters.
